Danfoss launches new look digital and dial room thermostats

Danfoss has extended its family of RET room thermostats with the new RET1000 (dial) and RET2000 (digital) devices, which combine contemporary styling with energy saving features for reduced home heating costs. In addition to their modern design and simple operation, both models offer Danfoss’ chrono-proportional temperature control. This micro-processor based system calculates how long the heating needs to stay ‘on’ to achieve optimum comfort and boiler efficiency. With these latest additions to the RET range, Danfoss now offers the benefits of chrono-proportional control in all its ranges of electronic room thermostats, from entry-level options to fully programmable products.

The new Danfoss RET2000 room thermostat features a generously-sized digital display, clearly showing the room temperature and output status of the thermostat. An inbuilt backlight makes the display easy to view, even by those with poorer eyesight or in dimly lit locations. The RET2000 also has an exclusive push button lock to prevent tampering, together with a Celsius or Fahrenheit selectable display.

For users who prefer the more traditional dial control, the new Danfoss RET1000 room thermostat offers smart styling plus increased comfort and improved economy. The unit’s well-proportioned dial and clear temperature scale make it easy to set the required temperature. All RET1000 thermostats include stylish backlit LED icons indicating power and output status. Both the RET1000 and RET2000 room thermostats also include an upper and lower temperature limiting feature.

As well as standard on/off control, the RET1000 and RET2000 can be set to Danfoss chrono-proportional mode. This introduces a fixed cycle rate on the system and then uses an advanced control algorithm to determine the duration of the On and Off periods within each cycle in proportion to load, increasing comfort and economy. In ‘real world’ tests conducted by Danfoss, chrono-proportional control can result in a potential 10% reduction in energy consumption by the heating system compared with a slower reacting mechanical thermostat.

Designed by Danfoss for ease of installation, the new RET1000 and RET2000 room thermostats are available in battery and mains powered versions to suit different domestic applications.
