Danfoss launches energy saving room thermostats for underfloor heating

Danfoss has launched a new range of energy saving room thermostats specifically designed for use with water-based underfloor heating systems (UFH). By providing precise control over room temperature, the BasicPlus2 room thermostats optimise the UFH system’s energy consumption whilst maintaining a comfortable temperature. Part of Danfoss’ family of 230V room thermostats, the new UFH range features a contemporary design and comes in a choice of Dial, Digital Display and Programmable Digital Display models to suit individual user preference and installation requirements.

Danfoss’ BasicPlus² Dial room thermostat offers ease of operation by simply turning the dial to the desired set-point temperature. Designed for wall-mounting, this model in the new UFH range displays a green light while the thermostat is ON, but without heat demand. A red light is displayed to indicate the device is ON and there is heat demand. In addition to temperature, the setting scale on the BasicPlus² Dial room thermostat includes a frost symbol, which maintains the room temperature around 5° to protect against damage due to low temperatures.

Offering additional functionality, the BasicPlus² Digital Display and the Programmable room thermostats have an easy-to-view LCD display. They are also equipped with floor sensor terminals, enabling control of maximum floor temperature to reduce the risk of overheated and damaged floors. Both models offer selectable room and floor temperature control modes, together with an advanced programmable timer. The latter function allows users to set an energy saving lower set-back temperature when the standard room temperature is not required, e.g. at night or whilst the occupants are away. In addition, a temperature calibration function allows the temperature set-point of the room thermostat to be adjusted to compensate for a possible temperature difference between the thermostat and, for example, the centre of the room. For an ultra-neat finish, Danfoss BasicPlus² Digital Display and Programmable heating controls offer flush (in-wall) installation. The Programmable version also has the added functionality of 7-day scheduling, offering optimum control of the UFH system for maximum efficiency and comfort.
