Danfoss heating controls win palace approval

Outstanding product reliability and performance have made Danfoss intelligent heating controls the first choice for a stunning new residential development on the Blenheim Palace estate in Oxfordshire. Home Farm, a collection of 27 traditionally constructed houses and apartments, is being built by Blenheim Estate Contractors. The latest electronic controls from the Danfoss range have been selected to suit individual property specifications and provide residents with greater control of room temperature – and energy use – all around their new home. As well as increased comfort and fuel economy for end-users, Danfoss heating controls give developers and contractors the products needed to fully comply with Part L Building Regulations, particularly in terms of zoning and timed control of central heating systems in new dwellings.

Lactodorum Contracts Ltd of Towcester, Northamptonshire is installing Danfoss heating controls at Home Farm as part of high efficiency domestic heating systems, from A-rated combi boilers to underfloor heating. Steve Brown, Director of Lactodorum, comments: “As a loyal Danfoss customer I have no hesitation in recommending their heating controls to major clients like Blenheim Estate Contractors. Danfoss products are hassle-free and the company’s helpful team goes the extra mile when it comes to service and support, like designing wiring diagrams and templates which helps to ensure a smooth installation and means no costly call-backs for us.”

Among the products specified for Home Farm is the Danfoss RAS-D2 Thermostatic Radiator Valve (TRV) featuring the revolutionary Revolver bi-directional valve to prevent water hammer, together with a flow selector that allows the installer to change the direction of flow through the valve simply by turning the setting ring 180 degrees. The RAS-D2 is backed-up with Danfoss’ no quibble 5 year guarantee. The smart all-chrome model of the RAS-D2 TRV is being installed in apartment bathrooms at Home Farm, providing the perfect match for chrome bathroom towel rails.

Also included in the development’s Danfoss package is the TP5000Si 5/2 day programmable room thermostat, which offers up to six time and temperature changes each day. Combining high efficiency with a stylish design, this advanced heating control has a large, user-friendly display and a built-in switching programme, making it quick and easy to change settings to suit individual heating requirements. Whilst conventional On/Off control is the standard setting on the TP5000Si, advanced chrono-proportional control is available as an installer-set option. This modulating control mode uses a cycling pattern within which boiler on/off percentages are varied to satisfy heating requirements and optimise energy use.

Blenheim Estate Contractors was established in 2006 by Blenheim Palace to undertake development projects across the historic estate. Home Farm includes properties for market sale, retention within the estate’s rental portfolio and some social housing.
